“We started the Harvest Hustle in 2020 to our members looking for something to do to get them out on the course in the winter time,” said Melissa Weber from TPC Twin Cities. “We quickly realized that this is more of a big community event so we opened it to the neighborhood the next year.”
The city of Blaine and TPC Twin Cities have teamed up to make this an annual event which has quickly morphed into a North Metro Thanksgiving tradition.
Participants get to burn off calories before packing more on at the table later in the day. They also get to see the golf course in a different light.
“It’s also pretty cool because a lot of these people from the community that have been out here for the 3M Open see it as a grand spectacle with all the stands and everything that’s built out,” Weber said. “Now you get to actually see the beauty of the course.”
The race appeals to both runners and walkers.
“The runners go off of the front nine,” Weber said. “The walkers go off the back nine so we keep them somewhat separated.”
Record turnout expected
Approximately 440 people ran or walked Harvest Hustle in 2024. In 2025 the turnout could exceed that.
Said Weber: “We anticipate this is going to be our biggest event ever.”
The Harvest Hustle gets a wide range of participants.
“We have both runners and walkers,” Weber said. “We also have our furry little friends. We also have little kids on bikes. We anticipate we might have over 500 this year.”
Except for the 3M Open, the Harvest Hustle is the most popular event at TPC Twin Cities.
Cost is $25 for grown ups and $15 for kids younger than 18. Harvest Hustle is looking for volunteers and sponsors. Anyone interested can go to the City of Blaine website and type in Harvest Hustle.
