BLAINE, Minn. – (March 31, 2017) – This week Blaine Police officers gathered at Caribou Coffee for the first Coffee with a Cop – a casual setting for cops to interact with the public.
“About once a month we are going to have this set up,” said Officer Greg Rowe. “It’s for people to come out and meet with the officers and just have a cup of coffee, talk to them about neighborhood issues, and ask any question they have.”
The location for Coffee with a Cop will shift to different coffee shops throughout the city. The time and day of the week will also shift from month to month. All part of an effort from the police department to engage with the community.
Another advantage of attending a Coffee with a Cop event is finding out the officer who is assigned to patrol your specific neighborhood.
The police department is also holding monthly outreach gatherings at senior living facilities in the city. The next Coffee with a Cop will take place at the Starbucks at 109th and Highway 65 on April 14 at 1:00 p.m.
