ANOKA, Minn. (August 29, 2013) – Technologically advanced security measures are being implemented inside all of Anoka-Hennepin elementary schools. In the wake of multiple recent school shooting tragedies across America, entrances leading directly into schools across the district will be securely locked and under surveillance throughout the day while children are present.
The first implemented change means all visitors will need a legitimate reason for entering during the day. Once approved to get inside the building, said individual will step into a separate locked and sealed-off room. The school secretary will be able to view and speak with them either in person or via a video screen. When the secretary has determined that the visitor has provided a legitimate reason for being there, they will then buzz them inside, similar to an apartment complex entry system.
Another major step in preventing further tragedies will be the introduction of a brand-new driver’s license scanner and badge printer. When a visitor has been cleared for entry, he or she will then scan their license and the system will print out a personalized visitor’s badge for that individual; this badge will only be valid during that specific time and day.
