Fans are limited to 250 people in the stands as the soccer season opened at Blaine High School. That’s in addition to players and coaches on the field. Bengal Stadium is large enough to allow that, plus spacing between family groups. The 250 limit is required by the Department of Health for outdoor gatherings.
Special signs were put up to direct foot traffic one way in and one way out. That’s especially important since the stands have to be cleared between the two games that were scheduled back to back.
“We’re asking our parents to sign a list of attendance so we can keep under the 250 and make sure that parents, grandparents get to watch their sons and daughters compete,” said Gerrety. “That’s really important to us because if grandma comes down from Ogilvie and wants to watch her grandson or granddaughter play soccer, we want to make sure she gets in the gate.”
Gerrety says its hard to predict how many fans will turn out for soccer during the season since its the only stadium event for high school sports this season.
No fans are allowed at swim meets since that’s an indoor sport. Tennis and cross country fans are asked to follow social distancing rules.
