SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn – (Aug. 10, 2017) – A new Hy-Vee grocery and convenience store may start development soon in the north metro area. The company has submitted preliminary plans to the city for a development at the northeast corner of Highway 65 and 81st Avenue in Spring Lake Park.
The site currently holds the city run Central Park Liquor, but the rest of the site is empty. As a part of the plan the liquor store would be demolished and the city would exit the municipal liquor business. Hy-Vee has many liquor stores as a part of their other locations.
The preliminary plans received unanimous approval from the Spring Lake Park planning commission; however, many questions remain from both the city and the developer. The next step includes a traffic study and discussions with the city, county and the state about improving access off of Highway 65.
Unless their are unforeseen delays the full city council will review the preliminary plans at one of their August meetings.
