Robert Downey Jr. is back as Tony Stark in Marvel’s third edition of Iron Man to hit the big screen. This time around Stark is still dealing with lingering effects of the massive battle in New York that took place at the end of The Avengers. With his country being targeted by a terrorist known only as the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), Stark will be called on again to save the day.
This time Stark is forced to confront decisions from his past. Those decisions have now put Stark’s longtime love interest Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in harms way. Besides the Mandarin, Stark is also facing off against Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) who has special powers seem invincible even for Iron Man.
Iron Man 3 is a significant upgrade over the last Iron Man offering. While it still doesn’t quite live up to the brilliance of the original Iron Man film it is definitely worth your time. The amazing special effects are backed by a quality script that will please both the die hard and casual fans of the franchise.
New director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), who also co-wrote the film, did a great job at the helm. The special effects were flawless and the 3D conversion of the film was done well.
If you are a fan of the Marvel films you are in luck as there are several more coming your way over the next decade. Iron Man 3 is the seventh film released under the Marvel Cinematic Universe which has already grossed over $4 billion.
The blend of action, humor, and poignant moments make Iron Man 3 a success and a great way to start the summer blockbuster movie season.
