BLAINE, Minn. – (June 14, 2018) – In a last minute change Blaine council member Jason King decided not to run for reelection. King had filed for his ward three seat but after the filing period had closed he withdrew his name from the ballot.
King posted on his Facebook page:
“I am officially not seeking re-election this November. My serving has never been about me. It was always about helping the families of Blaine. I have many other responsibilities in my life, including being a husband, father, coach, and business leader. I never want to put myself into a position of giving less than 100% to any of them, and hence, have made this difficult choice. I wish this city the best of luck into the future.”
King was first elected to the council in 2014 and ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor in 2016. Richard Paul was the only other person to file in ward three and will now be unopposed for election.
