ANOKA, Minn. – (March 23, 2017) – An Anoka County jury has convicted Adam J. Rodman for a drunk driving incident that occurred last spring in Blaine, in which he drove up to 70 mph in a 30 mph zone and fatally struck a man who was standing at his mailbox.
Rodman, 28, of Blaine, was charged by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office in May 2016 with three felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one misdemeanor count of failing to stop for a collision.
The jury began deliberations Wednesday afternoon and returned guilty verdicts on all four counts Thursday morning.
Anoka County prosecutor Treye Kettwick asked the court for a longer than usual sentence based on aggravating factors; the request is under consideration by Anoka County District Judge Daniel O’Fallon.
Rodman’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 2.
“While this conviction won’t bring the victim back, our hope is that it brings a sense of justice to the victim’s family,” Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo said. “We felt strongly the defendant should be held accountable for this tragic and preventable act of recklessness.”
