ANOKA, Minn. (August 1, 2013) -– Two minors were held at gunpoint last month while walking through an Anoka parking lot.
According to police reports, the events transpired when Kendall Dean, 27, grabbed one of the minors and asked for money. Dean then reached for a pistol in his waistband and waved it in front of the young victims.
Dean allegedly fled the scene of the crime, running to a nearby apartment complex and through a patio door. Police were called to the scene and went to the apartment unit the kids saw Dean enter. After a few knocks at the door, a woman answered and confirmed to officers that a man was inside, but stated that he was still sleeping.
Inside, officers discovered the man in question, matching the description and the same clothing items that the teens had witnessed earlier. The officers then located a BB gun pistol which matched the description of the handgun. Later that day, the victims were able to positively identify Dean as the man who had threatened them.
Dean has been charged attempted aggravated robbery in the second degree. If convicted, he will face up to 7 and a half years in prison.
