COON RAPIDS, Minn. – On December 30, a man robbed a jewelry store in Coon Rapids, getting away with a valuable ring while injuring on of the stores employees. A video released by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office shows the suspect entering Kay Jewelers, talking with the clerk, and running out of the store when the ring was in his hand.
This week, police were able to arrest the man they believe is responsible for the robbery. Matthew Thomas Kennedy, 23, was arrested and charged with a felony first degree aggravated robbery charge.
Kennedy has a substantial criminal record, including disorderly conduct, drugs and a DWI along with previous theft convictions.
