BLAINE, Minn. – (March 31, 2017) – The Community Emergency Assistance Program, or CEAP is the largest food shelf in Anoka County. They also serve a few communities in Hennepin County.
“We serve all of Anoka County, particularly the Blaine area, because we are located in the Blaine Human Services building,” said CEAP’s director of development Rachel Hickok.”
As a way to help CEAP, some local businesses teamed up to host the Lakes Eggstravaganza. It’s a food drive, and it’s also a family friendly Easter event.
“We partnered with CEAP, in Blaine and Brooklyn Center, first and foremost making this event a food drive, but also putting on an Easter event for people in the area who want bring their kids,” said Steve Smith of Keller Williams Classic Realty. “We kind of look at this as a way of giving back to the community, not only by the things we are doing during the actual event, but having CEAP there too and making a food drive out of it.”
“We’re also doing a giveaway, so door prizes. Grand prizes are bicycles to each age group,” said Brad Mayo of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. “We’re also doing coloring, face painting, we’re having two food trucks.”
There will also be free photos with the Easter bunny and an Easter egg hunt. Everyone who comes in encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to CEAP to help them help other families.

Bring non-perishable food for CEAP
CEAP is hoping that they will be able to bring in 500 pounds of food at event – an event that they hope can do more than just collect food, but also inform people about the need in the community and how to help.
CEAP is always looking for donations and always looking for volunteers to help them serve at both of their food shelves in both Brooklyn Center and Blaine.
