Lyngblomsten, a St. Paul-based organization that has for well more than a century provided residences of many kinds for seniors at its Como location, broke ground on its newest location in Lino Lakes, near the intersection of County Road J and Hodgson Road.
“It’s not going to be just a place for seniors to live,” said Lyngblomsten President Jeff Heinecke. “It’s going to be a place for seniors and others in the community to gather. You won’t have to live on the campus to enjoy the many offerings that we will have.”
Plans showed nearly two dozen townhomes, amenities like restaurants, worship spaces, and fitness facilities on the campus, which will include living spaces ranging from independent living all the way up to memory care.
“We’re going to work hard to be great neighbors,” said Heinecke. “We’re going to work hard to have great relationships with the city and we’re going to work really hard to have great relationships with business owners.”
Lyngblomsten board members, developers, and architects all praised Lino Lakes officials for their help with the process to get to construction. It’s a process that began in 2017.
“Home is where the heart is,” Mayor Rob Rafferty told the assembled crowd, which included several senior citizens with name tags that read “future resident.”
“Lyngblomsten is creating the best senior living experience right here in Lino Lakes, and our community couldn’t be prouder to partner with them,” said Rafferty.
Construction on the town homes should be finished by 2022, and the following year for the independent living and memory care units. The city is working with Shoreview and Ramsey County to improve the intersection nearby.
