LINO LAKES, Minn. – (Aug. 10, 2017) – Lino Lakes is gearing up for their 14th annual Blue Heron Days. The three days festival is full or summer fun for the whole family. Brian Hronski of Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation said this parade will be one of the largest that city has ever seen.
“We have sixty plus units in the parade which is as much or more than we’ve had before,” Hronski said.
Then, after the parade, in Lino Park, there will be inflatables, a penny carnival, balloon art, a petting zoo, and live music.
“We’ve had bands in the past but this year, what I really wanted to do was get people to come from the parade to bring their kids over to the park, so we’re going to have the teddy bear band that’s going to kind of kick off right after the parade ends,” Hronski said.
With a couple of these new additions, Blue Heron Days will also be extending the time the festival to allow participants to partake in more of the festivities.
“The event used to end at 4 p.m. and it’s now going to go to 6 p.m. so we’ve added two hours and I think if the weather being good and normal for August, I think that should be a real plus for us, I think it makes the event a little bit longer and it makes it a little worthwhile to come out and have the kids spend the afternoon doing some of the things we have,” Hronski said.
