(LINO LAKES) – Lino Lakes City Council took time during its November 25 meeting to recognize the city’s long-time environmental coordinator, Marty Asleson, upon his retirement.
Asleson worked for the city for more than 30 years until his retirement November 27.
Mayor Jeff Reinert presented Asleson with a plaque thanking him for his time, which he spent working with city staff and elected officials to promote environmentally conscious development. Lino Lakes, like many communities in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, promotes suburban living with natural beauty and amenities. The city includes much of the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Preserve and the Rice Creek corridor.
Reinert joked to the council that Asleson likely knew “every blade of grass” in the city after all of his years of work with residents and staff alike.
“It’s just made things work,” Asleson told the council about city management and administration through the years. “A lot of times, we’ve got to balance resources with economic development, and the social issues, and it seemed like we were able to do that and if there was an issue that was really important, (council) was able to bend, as well.”
Asleson also oversaw the city’s various recycling efforts over the years.
