(LINO LAKES) – Lino Lakes leaders wanted to help businesses that may be struggling during the economic downturn.
At Monday’s meeting, council voted to slightly alter the business license process.
Council and staff had discussed hardships some businesses–particularly those that sell liquor and massage therapists–have experienced, and the fact that they had paid for licenses in the city and aren’t able to make money right now from those services.
“There’s so many people that are affected by this, and the businesses in Lino Lakes are not alone,” said Mayor Rob Rafferty. “But they’re taking it on the chin.”
Council voted to allow some refunds for the months the businesses couldn’t operate and payment plans for the year ahead.
