LINO LAKES – Lino Lakes is trying for a second time to win a grant to build a key segment of the Central Anoka County Regional Trail.
It stretches 1.7 miles from Lino Lakes Elementary School to the I-35W overpass. The city says providing access to the Chain of Lakes Regional Park and providing a walking and bicycle link on the city’s north side is a priority.
If successful, federal funding would cover 80 percent of the $1.2 million cost. The city and Anoka County would split the rest. If the city gets the federal grant, the section of trail could be finished in 2024.
