LINO LAKES – (Nov. 4, 2021) – About a year ago, the tank for the new Lino Lakes water tower was painted and then hoisted to the top of its concrete tower. The city decided to decorate the tank with the city’s logo, complete with a blue heron. The city entered their tower design into a “Tank of Year” contest that’s hosted annually by the paint company Tnemec. Among nearly 300 enteries in this year’s competition, Lino Lakes came in 5th place.
“It’s pretty neat,” said Lino Lakes Mayor Rob Rafferty. “Back in October of last year when we were watching this develop, each one of the colors was put on independently and then all of a sudden the logo for Lino starts establishing itself on the water tower, and I’m thinking, ‘my goodness, this is just fabulous.’”
And, this tower has become the namesake for the new city park that it will tower over.
“We’ve got four brand new pickleball courts and two brand new tennis courts at the base of the water tower. It’s going to be called Tower Park,” said Rafferty.
