BLAINE, Minn. – (Aug. 27, 2015) – Metro Transit will begin to offer Wi-Fi on buses that serve the north metro beginning this month as part of a pilot program. The Wi-Fi will be available on several express bus routes that connect Minneapolis and St. Paul with the suburbs. Cities with routes that are included are Blaine, East Bethel, Ham Lake, and Coon Rapids, among others.
The buses will be marked and riders will simply need to connect to TransitWi-Fi and agree to terms. The service is free, and hopes to help people be more productive by giving them a chance to catch up on emails or search the web, but Metro Transit says that video streaming will not be available. Free Wi-Fi has been available on the Northstar commuter line since 2013.
