BLAINE, Minn. –The long-awaited arrival of warm weather means an increase in visits to local and state parks across Minnesota. One local company has decided to make these park visits even more enjoyable for families by volunteering their time after work to clean a Blaine park. This week, employees from Financial One Credit Union picked up trash in Lakeside Commons Park.
Financial One’s Marketing Director Jessica Dowell said that she has been talking to the city about how she and her co-workers could be more involved with the community. During those conversations, they decided to adopt the park, and help keep it clean.
This clean up was originally going to take place in mid-April, but the weather delayed their plans more than once. Together with the city, Dowell agreed to clean it this week, just days before the Blaine Triathlon, when thousands of people will be in the park.
“We live here, we work here, we’re a part of this community, so everything we do is going to help our community succeed” Dowell said.
