ST. PAUL – The Electoral College met on Dec. 14 to officially elect our next president. Ten Minnesotans met at the state capital to cast their votes, and one of them is from Ham Lake. Mel Aanerud is a leader in the DFL for Senate District 31, and was elected by the sixth Congressional District delegates to represent them in the Electoral College.
“In the whole history of the United States, there haven’t been that many Electors,” said Aanerud. “I represented thousands of people from Minnesota. It hits you, like ‘Wow, this is really amazing that this poor guy from Ham Lake is here doing this.”
Aanerud served as an alternate delegate in 2016.
