BLAINE, Minn. – (Aug. 23, 2018) – The League of Minnesota Cities recently announced its list of Legislators of Distinction for 2018. In all, 14 state representatives and 11 state senators were named to the list.
Two local legislators appeared on the list. Representative Erin Koegel(DFL – District 37A), who represents parts of Spring Lake Park, Coon Rapids and Blaine received the honor in only her second year serving in the legislature. Also, long time public servant Senator Jerry Newton(DFL – District 37) was on the list.
Newton represents most of Blaine and parts of Spring Lake Park and Coon Rapids. The honor recognizes legislators for specific actions that aided efforts of Minnesota cities during this year’s legislative session. Legislators of Distinction are annually approved by the League’s Board of Directors.
