BLAINE, Minn. – (April 30, 2015) – Construction got underway this week on a large addition at Blaine’s Johnsville Elementary School.
The construction was supposed to start in March, but had been delayed due to an error in the original bidding process. A new contract for the project was awarded in mid-April.
The work will include an 11 classroom addition as well as updates to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The HVAC upgrades may have to wait until the summer of 2016 because of the delayed start.
The total cost of the project is $6.2 million, which is under the district’s projected project budget. The 14,000-square-foot classroom addition is expected to be completed by the time students return to school in September.
