BLAINE, Minn. – (Sept. 10, 2015) – A woman from Ham Lake has been charged with a felony count of theft and a felony count of state lottery fraud for allegedly stealing from the Super USA convenience store in Blaine where she worked.
According to court documents, Sandra Kay Cameron, 51, was caught by the store owner after she saw the thefts on surveillance. Cameron would ring up a customer’s purchase, void the sale once the customer left, then use the money from the voided purchase to pay for state lottery tickets.
Over three months, more than $1,600 worth of customer purchases had been voided in this scheme. Cameron has admitted to the thefts, but said only a few hundred dollars worth.
She was fired when her boss discovered what she was doing.
If convicted of both the theft charge and the lottery fraud charge, she could be sentenced to 15 years in prison, and face fines of up to $60,000.
