LINO LAKES, Minn. – (May 25, 2017) – The Lino Lakes City Council voted unanimously this week to censure council member Melissa Maher after her Facebook comments regarding Representative Tom Emmer that came across as threatening.
“I feel like we need to do some action and I think the action then will put an end to this,” said Lino Lakes Mayor Jeff Reinert.
Maher has apologized to Congressman Emmer, and the city council, and says that she is support of their actions.
“I just want to go on record and say that I am fully supportive of the city council taking this action. I think that it is fair and just and I am in support of council’s action on this,” said Maher.
One resident spoke at the council meeting and encouraged Maher to resign. But, she says that that is not something she plans to do.
