That is where Centerville’s Main Street Market takes place.
“Really what makes the market unique is we have vendors that really make their own products,” said Angela Conley from the Main Street Market. “We don’t have resale items. Everybody who’s out here actually makes their own food, makes their crafts, their art.”
The fourth year of the market got started in mid-July. The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for six Thursdays in the summer and has something for everyone to enjoy.
The market brings together a wide range of people who have plenty of options to choose from – including tasty treats like Thumbs Cookies.
“They’re nice and warm, buttery,” said Sydney Nelson of Centerville. “Bite size. They’re really good.”
“These are great gift items,” Conley said. “There’s handmade sewn items, there’s honey, there’s candy, some great products.”
Local products
The upside to this market is that most of the products are made in the north metro.
Jackie Hicks was at the first market of the season selling her unique homemade items. She donates some of the money made to area nonprofits.
“I like being local,” Hicks said. “I own The Goodside Company we make coconut soy wax candles and wax melts. I pour them out of my home based in Lino Lakes. I feel like people that live in this area prefer to be purchasing things from people that are local.”
Said Conley: “Many of these are woman-owned businesses and we love that we can support them.”
Growing market
The market is gaining traction and growing each year.
“Our first year we had about 20 vendors,” Conley said. “We were kind of getting a feel for how it works. Today we have over 23 and what’s great is every date, every market that we have there’s new vendors, so there’s a rotation. What you see today is going to be different next week.”
There is also a water ski show on Centerville Lake when the market is finished.
“It’s great,” Nelson said. “It’s very busy this year compared to previous years. Good to get people out and about.”
Some upcoming events at the Market are a mini-pet parade and cutest pet contest on August 8th. Kids night is August 15th, which includes a free bounce house, face paintings and other activities going on.
