SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Starting in June, 694 will be under construction from I-35W to Highway 100. The work being done will include resurfacing and repairing of concrete, replacing bridge decks, and resurfacing all of the ramps along the path. For six months, traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during the day, and only one lane in each direction at night. Along with that, the plan also calls for full closures of the roadway for several weekends.
This project will likely have a large impact because 694 in Brooklyn Center is one of the few highway crossings over the Mississippi River, meaning thousands of drivers will have to divert their path. The closest highway crossing to the north is Highway 610 in Brooklyn Park, and 35W or 94 to the south.
