COON RAPIDS, Minn. – (July 7, 2016) – As a large crowd was enjoying the 4th of July carnival in Coon Rapids police witnessed a violent crime.
According to a criminal complaint, a concerned citizen alerted officers to a man causing problems in the crowd. Officers located Jarrett Peter Ready and saw him punch another male from behind. The punch landed on the side of the victims head.
Police reports say that the victim fell to the ground and remained unconscious for 5 to 10 seconds. The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital and treated for facial fractures.
Ready allegedly made several statements to police after his arrest indicating that the other man was his sister’s ex-boyfriend and he “had it coming”.
Ready remains in the Anoka County Jail and has been charged with felony assault in the third degree.
