LINO LAKES, Minn. – A Lino Lakes man is facing two felony theft charges after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from a youth sports organization.
Christopher Hable, 44, worked as the treasurer of the Centennial Youth Lacrosse Association, until he suddenly resigned last fall. According to the criminal complaint, the association discovered that several important financial documents were missing after Hable resigned from his position.
The Centennial Youth Lacrosse Association made several fruitless attempts to contact Hable. After a comprehensive records search, the association discovered 25 fraudulent checks issued by Hable to himself. The checks were dispensed over a two-and-a-half-year period, many of which did not match any receipts or bills of the association. $35,438 is still unaccounted for.
If convicted of both charges, Hable could face up to 30 years in prison, and $120,000 in fines.
