FRIDEY, Minn. – ( Oct. 5, 2017) – An Andover man is behind bars and another man is dead after a violent car crash in Fridley. According to the criminal complaint, Emmanuel Seekie(pictured) was detained at the scene after responding officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol while speaking with him.
Seekie ran a red light on East River Road and crashed into the a car driven by 60-year-old Army veteran David Alfuth. First responders found the Alfuth bleeding profusely and struggling to breathe. Paramedics arrived on the scene, but all attempts to render life-saving aid failed and Alfuth was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers put Seekie through field sobriety tests, which he failed. He did not take a field breath test as he was unable to follow the directions of the officers. Instead, later at the hospital Seekie’s blood was drawn and toxicology reports are still pending.
Eyewitnesses told officers that Seekie’s vehicle was driving erratically and crossed the center line. Seekie has been charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. Alfuth was killed one day before his 61st birthday.
