BLAINE, Minn. – (Aug. 11, 2016) – Earlier this week Blaine Police responded to the report of a personal injury accident at the intersection of 105th Avenue and 6th Street. Witnesses told police that a vehicle had run a stop sign and stuck another vehicle. A woman who was in the vehicle that was stuck suffered cuts on her wrists and arms and was later diagnosed with a concussion and an intracranial hemorrhage. The driver who ran the stop sign had fled the scene.
Police caught up with Matthew Jacoboski after he hit another vehicle and then attempted to flee on foot. Jacoboski allegedly told officers that he did not mean to run but he was scared because he did not have insurance and his license was suspended. According to the criminal complaint, officers conducted a search of Jacoboski’s vehicle and found a broken glass pipe, numerous small plastic baggies and a digital scale. Jacoboski was booked into the Anoka County Jail and has been charged with criminal vehicular operation, failure to produce proof of insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces up to three years in prison.
