FRIDLEY, Minn., — (Dec. 12, 2013) — After an extensive investigation, a suspect has been identified and an arrest has been made in the case of a woman who was abducted off the street by an individual claiming to be a police officer.
The woman was allegedly held several hours and was sexually assaulted by the suspect. The crime took place in late November in Fridley. Earlier this week detectives from the Anoka Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force took the suspect into custody in Brooklyn Center. The suspect is identified as Gideon Charles Arrington.
Similar attacks also have been reported near the University of Minnesota campus and the description of the suspect vehicle in the U of M attacks was the same as the Fridley attack.
Arrington committed aggravated robbery in 2008 and was in prison until 2011.
