ANOKA, Minn. – This week Anoka County held their annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service honoring officers who were killed in the line of duty. Through the years, there have been seven officer deaths in the county starting in 1947, and most recently 2005. As part of National Police Week, Anoka County honored every officer’s contribution in the line of duty, and the each of these seven officers who lost their lives.
“They put on their shield everyday and place their lives on the line for the safety and protection of the citizens they are sworn to serve,” Sheriff James Stuart stated.
Every year there are far too many law enforcement officers across the nation who get killed while simply doing their job. In 2012, 127 officers were lost.
Members of the fallen heroes’ families were at the event to show their respect and honor to their loved ones by pinning a red rose on a wreath in their remembrance.
