BLAINE, Minn. – (Jan. 5, 2017) – Minnesota School of Business and Globe University will be paying restitution to more than 1,200 students. A Hennepin County Court ruled this week that these schools committed fraud while marketing their criminal justice program to students. The judge ruled that the schools claimed that they could train students to work in law enforcement, even though it was not certified by Minnesota’s policing board.
Former criminal justice students will be eligible for restitution for tuition, student loans, books and interest charges they got through the program. The Attorney General will notify eligible students about their restitution options and how to file.
Minnesota School of Business lost all access to federal students loans at the end of last year. They say their campuses will remain open to help students with transcripts and transfers through the end of January. At that point, they will continue a few online classes for students who do not use federal aid through the spring of this year.
