BLAINE, Minn. – (April 16, 2015) – The 2015 season for Minnesota United FC is underway and they will kick off the home portion of their schedule on Saturday April 25 at the National Sports Center in Blaine. The team reached the semi-finals in the NASL playoffs last year and returns several key players led by Miguel Ibarra – who recently has been called up to play for the U.S. Men’s National Team on several occasions.
The team was also busy during the off season upgrading its roster. “We’ve added some real quality; Ibson, Jonny Steele, Sammy Ndjock, Jimmy Banks, to name a few. So I think what they’ll bring to us is a dynamism to our play and hopefully more goals. They’re certainly guys who have plated at a higher level,” says Assistant Coach Carl Craig for MN United FC.
The team is recently announced that they have more than 3,000 season ticket holders this year and they are hoping for large and loud crowds in Blaine. “I hope it’s a sellout. I hope that the stands are full. It’s amazing the feeling that we get as a group, as a team, when the stand are full and our crowds are in full voice.”
United is scheduled to make the jump to Major League Soccer in either 2017 or 2018.
