“(These roads) serve all travelers,” said MNDOT Principal Planner David Elvin. “We’ve got a lot of pedestrians, a lot of bicyclists, a lot of transit users.”
The roads also pass through several municipalities, including Blaine, Spring Lake Park, Fridley, Columbia Heights, and Minneapolis.
MnDOT will hold three virtual open houses hosted by study staff: noon, Tuesday, Oct. 27; 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct 28; and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28. Links to register for each event are at UniversityCentralVision.com, or attendees can join a session without advance registration. UniversityCentralVision.com also has an online survey and an interactive comment map to gather community input.
COVID-19 has changed the way planners like to gather this kind of information, Elvin said.
“This is not the way we usually do business,” he said. “I like to be able to talk to people and shake their hands and get out, but we’re making the best of it.”
