ANOKA, Minn. – (April 12, 2017) – April has been proclaimed “Month of the Military Child” to recognize the sacrifices made by military children while parents are deployed on duty.
Anoka County Commissioner, Rhonda Sivarajah explains the struggles military children face like frequent moves and long separations from their parents, describing them as “hidden heroes.”
The Anoka County board of commissioners is encouraging everyone to wear purple Friday, April 21 to show support for military children and thank them for the role they play in the armed forces community.
There will be an event at Mall of America on April 21 from 2-10 p.m. for military children.
