ANOKA, Minn. – Elizabeth Moorman of Anoka was sentenced this week by Anoka County District Court Judge Sharon Hall to four years in prison for her role in the death of her three-year-old son. Moorman (pictured) pled guilty to second degree manslaughter and neglect of a child.
In August of 2011 the child was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, where an examination found that he had suffered a right cerebral hemorrhage, two collapsed lungs and retinal hemorrhaging. He was immediately airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center. Prosecutors alleged that these injuries were the result of child abuse, inflicted upon the boy. The child died a few days later as a result of the injuries he sustained.
Anthony Urban, Moorman’s boyfriend, pled guilty to second degree murder of his three-year-old and was sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison last summer. After Urban severely abused the three-year-old boy, Moorman delayed treatment for her son despite knowing that he needed immediate medical attention.
