BLAINE, Minn. – (Aug. 31, 2017) – We’ve learned from Hurricane Harvey that disaster can strike communities anytime. September is National Preparedness Month, a time when all Americans are encouraged to make sure they are prepared for disasters or emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities.
If a disaster struck us tomorrow, do you know how you would find your family? Where would you meet? Who would pick up the kids? In September, you are reminded to: build and emergency kit and make a communications plan; and to get involved in the planning for you business, organization or place or worship as well.
Online you can find weekly themes that you can follow on social media with hashtags #NatlPrep and #PlanAhead along with training, webinars and preparedness videos.
The READY Campaign website has many more helpful ideas and lists for families to talk about as they make their plans.
