(BLAINE) – The National Sports Center has delayed the construction of its seasonal dome. It was originally scheduled to open in November, but there were problems getting supplies. A new timeline for the dome has not yet been announced.
The dome itself is projected to be 110 feet tall by 260 feet wide by 450 long and will cover 117,260 square feet. The construction budget for the project is about $4.8 million, according to the National Sports Center.
“This facility will be a tremendous resource for local sports associations,” said the National Sports Center’s Executive Director Todd Johnson. “Domed fields like this are being built at taxpayer expense in many locations. The NSC is providing this at no cost to taxpayers. This will be a tremendous community asset.”
The center says it is working with customers to try to accommodate the indoor sports needs of those who were promised the dome would already be open.
