“Sixty-thousand boxes today,” said site manager Bethany Klitzke. “We started with 4,000, so ramping week over week with that increase.”
The number of workers at the building has also been growing.
“We have 230 associates now, over 400 drivers,” said Klitzke.
“Centerville is steeped in history and tradition. Dare I say, today is the beginning of a new chapter in that rich history,” said Mayor D. Love.
A business of this size- with a workforce that’s still growing- brings a lot of opportunity to town.
“The opening of Amazon signals the opening of Centerville’s largest employer. With an employer of this size, other existing businesses including gas stations, restaurants, boutiques, flower shops, um, daycare centers, all of them benefit from a business like this opening in this area,” said Mayor Love.
“So I am happy to have Amazon in our Senate District. I welcome the new jobs and opportunities it will bring,” said State Senator Heather Gustafson (DFL), District 36.
“With this grand opening, we not only welcome Amazon, a cornerstone business of our community for many decades to come, but we also want to see the spark of many new opportunities for our area,” said Mayor Love.
