BLAINE, Minn. – (July 30, 2015) – The Blaine Police Department is welcoming a fresh and new design to their squad cars. The department decided to phase in new graphics with the gradual replacement of squad vehicles, allowing its officers to design possible logos to be the face of their police cars.
“We had a group of designs that we all voted on. We sent the top three to the chief and he got to pick of those top ones which one he liked so we end dip with this one. And this one is actually one I came up with and put together,” said Officer Jason Knutson.
Over the course of the next two to three years, the city of Blaine will see a gradual switch from the traditional black and white logos to the new black and blue graphics.
“The theme that we kind of went with was the thin blue line. The thin blue line is a symbol we use in law enforcement to commemorate officers that have fallen in the line of duty, given the ultimate sacrifice.”
Despite this being his first graphic design attempt, the department is pleased with how Officer Knutson work looks on the vehicles. “It looks way better in person rather than on paper. I couldn’t be any happier [with] the way it turned out.”
The new design is on the K-9 vehicle and one other police SUV at this point, so keep an eye out around town to see the new look.
