LINO LAKES, Minn. – (Jan. 15, 2015) – Lino Lakes has taken another step towards the building of the city’s new fire station. The City Council has approved the plans and specifications for the south side fire station.
The estimated cost of the station is $3.9 million, which is higher than initial projections. At the most recent council meeting, Mayor Jeff Reinert explained one reason for the higher cost is because the council decided to include training space in the new station.
According to the mayor, this will result in cost savings in the future as firefighters will be able to receive training on site instead of needing to go somewhere else to receive training. The construction bid will be awarded by the end of February and construction will start in April.
The 13,000-square-foot station will be complete by December and the new Lino Lakes fire division will be operational by January 2016.
