(BLAINE) – Aquatore dog park will be renamed Swanson Dog Park in honor of retiring city council member Dick Swanson.
At the council meeting where the renaming was announced, other council members talked about how Swanson’s 26 years of service to the community will be remembered.
“It will have a profound effect on the future of this city for years and years to come,” council member Wes Hovland said.
Swanson helped lead the project to create this dog park. It opened in 2016, and has become a popular spot for dog owners.
“It’s a nice place to have an enclosed area with a fence so that she can run around,” said regular Aquatore Dog Park visitor, Ryan Frey. “My yard is pretty small so she doesn’t have that at home, so that’s why we come here.”
City leaders say there will be a ceremony to unveil the new signage for the park in the near future.
