COON RAPIDS, Minn – (July 27, 2017) – A new junior hockey team is coming to Minnesota. The Coon Rapids Ice Center will be the home of the Minnesota Blue Ox, a new United States Premier Hockey League franchise.
The Junior A’ Hockey club is partly owned by Minnesota Wild Head Coach Bruce Boudreau and his wife Crystal.
The hockey team’s head coach will be Jay Witta, a former defensemen for St. Cloud State University. Witta will be joined by Blaine native Jason Wood who will be the team’s assistant coach. The team will play other local teams including the Blaine Energy during the 2017-18 season.
