BLAINE, Minn. – The grand opening of the area’s newest Wal-Mart is just around the corner. It also signals an opportunity for people looking for employment in the Blaine area. Although the store is already well into their hiring process, they are still looking for more employees.
Veterans are encouraged to apply for the positions. As part of a program that began Memorial Day of 2013, Wal-Mart will offer a job to any honorably discharged veteran within his or her first 12 months off active duty. They plan to hire more than 100,000 veterans over the next five years.
The company currently employs 2.2 million associates globally, and creates around 300 jobs each time a Supercenter opens. This new location will be opening on August 14, the grand opening will include a ceremony at 7:30 A.M.
The new store is located directly off Highway 65 near 117th Avenue in Blaine. Like all Wal-Marts, it will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is officially Blaine’s second Wal-Mart and another potential Wal-Mart development off of Ball Road, which would replace the store located in The Village, is still in the study phase.
