The jump in pump prices are clearly impacting some residents in the North Metro.
“I think it sucks,” said Jay King of Blaine.
King echoes what many in the North Metro are thinking these days about skyrocketing costs.
“Man,” King said. “For a full tank of gas I used to do like 30 bones and now I’m up to? I don’t know how much I’m up to. I don’t fill up a full tank no more. I just put in $20 and hope it gets me to work.”
Sticker shock
There was serious sticker shock at some Blaine stations as fuel prices were above the metro area average.
“I used to put in $30, now I’m putting in upwards to 60, so yeah it’s doubled a bit,” said Joshua Kirley of Coon Rapids. “Then I do a courier service so that’s a big thing.”
Gas prices always fluctuate and the future is uncertain, but King and Kirley aren’t sure if petro costs are going to drop anytime soon.
Said King: “I mean I sure hope they’ll go down.”
“It’s a little weird to think about,” Kirley said.
In March, the average gas price was $3.45 a gallon in the Twin Cities metro area.
