SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – Last week the Minnesota State High School League accepted a request by the member schools to dissolve the North Suburban Conference at the end of the 2014 school year. The North Suburban Conference was once an 11 team conference that included Spring Lake Park’s athletic teams, but three schools will leave the conference before the fall 2013 sports season.
Then two more teams recently announced their decision to leave the conference in 2014. The five-team defection prompted what would be the six remaining NSC schools to call a special conference meeting to vote to dissolve the conference effective June 30, 2014.
All six schools voted in support of the dissolution of the conference, now Spring Lake Park will work to find a new conference home. If Spring Lake Park – or any of the other five schools – has not been invited to join or been accepted by a new conference by June 18, 2013 the High School League will convene a committee to assign the school or schools a new conference.
