HAM LAKE, Minn. – When Julie Braastad was sworn in as an Anoka County Commissioner earlier this year it left the Ham Lake City Council one member short. The council took action this past week to appoint planning and zoning commissioner Al Parranto to the open seat on the city council. Parranto took the oath of office and immediately joined the council. Parranto was selected by the council from a group of 19 individuals who had applied for the position.
The council conducted interviews with each person who applied and then unanimously selected Parranto. Ham Lake Mayor Mike Van Kirk said that there were 19 awesome candidates but his number one goal was selecting a candidate who mirrored Braastad’s political views. Parranto will complete the remained of Braastad’s term which runs through 2014.
