BLAINE, Minn. – It appears that the National Sports Center will be adding even more soccer fields to their already world-record-sized soccer complex.
The Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission had been considering adding a baseball complex on their campus, but now says that the addition of 16 baseball fields will not happen. Citing primarily financial reasons, they plan on building an additional 22 soccer fields instead, which carry about one fifth the cost of potential baseball fields.
The new soccer fields will also be used for lacrosse, rugby and other sports. Construction on the new development will be north of 105th avenue and west of Radisson Road, and is likely to start next year.
