(BLAINE) – A Blaine woman is dead after an early-morning crash on Friday, December 6.
It happened around 6:00 a.m. near the intersection of Lake Drive and Naples Street, not far from Interstate 35W.
Police said Sheryl Miller was crossing the street when a vehicle driven by Matt Hastrieter of Circle Pines hit her.

Hastrieter told responding officers on the scene that he’d been drinking both the night before and early that morning and he believed he’d consumed nearly a dozen shots of vodka by that point.
Hastrieter is charged with criminal vehicular homicide and was given $100,000 bail.
